Mark your calendars for an evening to remember with the Choir of World Champions 2017!  The Aeolians of Oakwood University will be in concert on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. in Orlando, Florida at the Dr. Phillips Performing Arts Center.  Sponsored by the Oakwood University Alumni Association and hosted by recording artist and founder of the U.S. Dream Academy Dr. Wintley Phipps, this is one concert you do not want to miss!  The theme of the evening will be “The Dream Lives On, 50 Year Anniversary Legacy” which will celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  Be sure to come and start the New Year right!

 Jason Max Ferdinand is Jason Max Ferdinand, D.M.A., chair of Oakwood’s Music Department University. A 1999 honors B.A. graduate in piano performance at Oakwood College, now University, Ferdinand attended Caribbean Union College, now the University of the Southern Caribbean, before transferring to OC in 1997. Under his leadership, the OU Aeolians have won in national and international choir competitions, including several HBCU (Historically Black College and University) competitions.  In 2017, the Aeolians participated on the Llangollen International Music Eisteddfod in Wales where it won the festival’s highest choral prize, the 2017 Choir of the World Pavarotti Trophy, on July 9. Ferdinand received the first ever Gwobr Jane Davies Prize for Outstanding Conductor at that time.
